yellow week - i will miss you

I have always loved the color yellow.

I recently painted my sewing area yellow (see photo below) and i enjoy yellow food - think lemon meringue pie, saffron rice, and Lay's potato chips.

At an art auction last year, I bought this fun art piece titled "man walking chicken." It sits in my sewing area and reminds me each day to enjoy all that I have and not take myself too seriously. 

This reminds me, yellow also makes me smile.

Smiling comes in handy when picking up the kiddos toys from the floor...

  

And I'm positive that yellow week had a lot to do with my choice of binding for this quilt...

I've even been sipping my favorite beverage - Lipton Spiced Chai - out of yellow teacups...

yellow train

This yellow train moves around a lot.  It sits on wooden tracks , in pink purses, on window sills,  and between couch cushions.  Today it sits on a stack of yellow books in the yellow room of a little girl who helped place it here to be photographed for yellow week.  We are loving this week of yellow around here!

yellow week, day 2

Molasses cookies always remind me of the saying, "slow as molasses in January."  While this is rarely meant to be a compliment, it makes me think of slowing down and savoring the newness of the year - before the rush and chores of spring and summer are upon us.

measuring yellow

Erin of house on hill road is hosting yellow week.  and I'm in!

I love yellow tape measures and use them all the time to measure fabric, knitting, bedroom walls, and even kiddos!  They always remind me of my amazing grandpa, who was tailor, and wore one around his neck often.
