Today I set aside a small bock of time to make Ezra's Valentine's day gift. I had an idea in mind but things were not coming together as planned. At one point I started over using different fabrics but when i began taking pictures of the half finished product it became clear that what i had created was not going to be Ezra's gift.
I needed some inspiration, something to get the creative juices flowing again, anything to make me forget that i had just wasted two precious making hours. I was still holding my camera when I decided to take pictures of things that were green. I'm not sure why i choose green other than the fact that i was wearing a green sweater and it was the first color to come to mind. So here goes...
And then it came to me...SOLIDS. When sewing for a big boy, solid colored fabrics are the way to go. Big, bold, bright blocks of color. It's snowing tonight so let's hope tomorrow's not a snow day because i cannot wait to get started - again.
Seeking out the color green was so inspiring I will be doing this again - there are so many beautiful colors out there, just waiting to be photographed.....
What a great idea! Love your photos, aren't digital cameras the best thing ever? Your cookbook shelf looks like mine: Love Soup, Enchanted Broccoli, Everyday Foods, . . ..

What a great idea to look for inspiration. So fun to see all the colors. The other day I did the same thing but with yellow and I was shocked that I had so much in my house :) Good luck with your project, can't wait to see what it is.

Your photos are so beautiful! They are inspiring me to get my camera out. I love that it looks like your cat wants you to bake some artisan bread. That one made me smile. :D

I am loving your green--and I'm especially loving those kitty paws in the bottom of the cookbooks picture! Enjoy your crafting. I should go on a "color hunt" around my house. Could be inspiring!

I love the miniature doll furniture! We don't have any of that around here. What a great idea to search out color for inspiration...wouldn't have thought of that!

What a wonderful task. I should try that in my house if only to convince myself that I do have lots of color in there. My favorites are the green doll cups and the abstract painting next to the table. Is that one of your paintings?

Love this message - especially the pics! Green is everywhere around my parts, as it is my favorite color. Hope you got a little time to create what is in your mind. Can't wait to see the result!
Happy Valentine's day! :)

Awesome photos. I love them. Each and every one.
I'm sure whatever you make will be perfect. You're such a good mom. I bake my kids cookies...that's it. Nothing says "I love you" like a sugar rush.
I just ordered Love Soup. Can't wait for it to get here.

love seeing how your mind works....brilliant. A solid color quilt? is going to be wonderful to watch as you create it. Stay warm and I hope the kiddos went off to school so that you could get some inspire sewing accomplished. Hugs to you friend!

Probably two years ago now, there was someone who did a whole week of color around this time of year. It was so fun she posted a color and you took photos just like you did, around your house or outdoors, people linked up to her posts and shared their colors too. So fun at a dreary time of season. Hmmm, maybe I should do this for next week. I think I will :) Love your green!

Super photographs. And I'm in love with your dog. Such a sweetie! I can't wait to see this solid green creation. I'm dying to jump into my solids, but I'm so undecided -- please send me some inspiration so I can launch this project!

I love photographing colors!! Your "list" of pictures is invigorating. I love the sketchbook and pencils; I think I have one of those sketchbooks! I should use it more often :) Thanks for sharing, Larissa. As always, your posts are so calming and centering.

Do i really have the sense of mourning the loss of my youth and confusing about my future?

One thing that hasn't changed is the left-handed Ortiz's ability to hit lefties. Last season, he batted .329 against them and .298 against righties. He went 3 for 4 on Sunday with all the hits against left-hander Matt Moore (0-1).
