This Sunday the snow came down. A whole foot of it!
In the morning I took photos out the window.
But once the wiggles set in and i had three stir crazy kiddos on my hands we took the show - and the camera - outdoors.
Then the sun came out and we set forth to explore...
in the veggie garden:
with the girls: who refused to let their feet touch the snow and remained "cooped up" (pun intended) for two whole days.
with icicles picked off the roof:
All that play can be exhausting so we took a break.
Then back inside for a snack.
I have been making Ina Garten's Cherry Granola for a while now but when Soulemama posted her granola recipe i decided to combine the two into what turned out to be the best granola EVER!
We just mixed all the ingredients leftover from making holiday gifts for the teachers and we got this half gallon jar + one quart jar full of yummy, healthy, hearty goodness.
We couldn't stop munching on it right out of the jar...
But around here everyone enjoys granola best over a bowl of plain yogurt, generously drizzled with honey.
Happy New Year to you!
Looks like magnificent day! Enjoy the snow -- and the post-snow cozy time :-)

Wasn't the snow great!! Especially since no one had to be anywhere! We loved it too on the southside.

Your kids and dogs look so happy! That one picture with the dog right next to the chicken is amazing. I'm sure your pooch is used to them, but I can't help but wonder what my dog would do face-to-face with a chicken. Maybe think "dinner?"
I'm totally jealous of all your snow. We wanted to go cross-country skiing on New Year's Day up at the lake -- which is a tradition here. But, there's not enough white stuff.
Happy New Year to you and your family.

Oh how wonderful for you to have all that snow. I love your chicken pictures.
You are also so kind to mention the crocheted trees from our shop.
Wishing you a beautiful new year,
Tonya

Poor me. ~grins~ I'm still waiting patiently for a super snowstorm. We've had light dustings, but nothing worthy of my affection yet...yet. Thanks for showcasing the new granola recipe. I would much rather use someone's recommendation when making all this yumminess.

mmmmm.... that granola looks wonderful! And how delicious after a trip outside. We got some snow after Christmas, but I don't think as much as you. I'm hoping for the big blizzard soon. ssshhhh... don't tell my husband I just wrote that. ;)

I love all the wintery fun!
OK. Going with your granola suggestion. I've been looking for that perfect recipe, and I trust your taste.
Guess what...The Mr. said that when we do our backyard make-over we can get some chickens! It's down the road a bit...but yay! Eggs!

Happy New Year! We need some more snow. Much of it has melted and it's just ugly right now. Looks like you had a great afternoon!

One thing that hasn't changed is the left-handed Ortiz's ability to hit lefties. Last season, he batted .329 against them and .298 against righties. He went 3 for 4 on Sunday with all the hits against left-hander Matt Moore (0-1).
