knitting update:
I am knitting the milkweed shawl pattern by cosmicpluto knits. I finally decided i had to knit something - anything really - with the gorgeous yarn I got from Heather of Shivaya Naturals. And then I came across this photo on flickr the other night and I knew I had the perfect pairing of pattern and yarn.
A few words about the pattern: this pattern is every quick and easy (all the stitches are knit). The pattern itself is beautifully written with 6 charts in addition to row by row written directions for each of the charts, making it super easy to follow.
And it knits up super fast. This bottom photo was taken yesterday!
sewing update:
I whipped this pillow up for Abigail for her birthday last week.
This was a quick (and late at night) project. I was too tired to find a quilting pen so I stitched the '5' freehand.
And I couldn't go wrong with ric rac ribbon in pink.
Yay! She loves it.
But now that she's five this kiddo has places to go, and books to read, and games to play - leaving very little time for impromptu photo shoots.
Quilting this pillow gave me some much need free motion practice so today I began quilting my log cabin quilt. More on that, and a fun quilting pattern surprise, coming soon. Happy Wednesday everyone!
You know, that was the only yarn in that color green that I ever dyed, and I am so glad that you have it. I can not wait to see how it turns out :)
Can I ask you how you best like to make a pillow? Do you use a zipper, or an overlay, etc? I have never really made pillows before, but my house could use some updating, and I think that I would like to sew a few.
Thanks!

I love that pillow you made Abigail...the quilting and rick rack are great details. Can't wait to see how you quilt your log cabin...I'm ready to put my quilt top together. Thanks teach!

I love the shawl you are starting. I can see it worn many different ways. I love your daughters bed too. What a cozy place to sleep.
