Stitches in Play: headed out

headed out

We're headed to the beach tomorrow morning. One last hurrah before school begins next Tuesday.

I've packed everything we could possibly need - and many things that we won't use at all.

Then I took a minute to straighten my sewing space...

and found these vintage Bakelite buttons that I bought at a quilt show nearly two years ago. I paid a whopping $30 for these so I wanted to 'save them' for the perfect project - but I think the time has come to use and enjoy them. I will try and find a fun cardi pattern in which to showcase these when I return. Any suggestions?

I also dug up these spools of silk embroidery ribbon in various shades of green. I can no longer recall what they were intended for when I bought them, but I cannot wait to finally try them out. Any suggestions on how to stitch with these?

Next, I unearthed these fruit and veggie prints that I purchased several years ago - having every intention of sewing then into napkins. Hmm, I'm not sure I like these any more. What do you think?

Before saying good bye to my sewing space for the week I snapped this photo of a quick (read poor) sketch that I made the other day while drawing with my kiddos. I absolutely love these Pitt pens and will definitely spend more time doodling in the coming months. And if you never take the time to doodle, please purchase and read this book - I love this book (and his follow up book) so much that one year I gave a copy to everyone on my holiday list.
