I made a scarf and i like it

Happy Earth Day! 

I am so glad to be back in this space today.  I have been super busy with the kiddos and all their activities, helping out with the Montessori school auction, and the public school PTA (I also help coordinate volunteers and read with first graders on tues and thurs).  In order to remain 'present' with the kiddos and the volunteering, I challenged myself to take a few days off from the computer so for the last couple of days I would check my e-mail and quickly hit the power button - torture I tell you.  I miss reading all of your blogs and viewing all of your flickr goodness.  People, I know I am hooked because I composed blog posts in my head while driving carpool and doing dishes and I felt the inexplicable need to photograph my morning oatmeal and the blooming dogwood tree.  Fortunately, to keep my sanity, I never stop "making."

Enough about me.  I used my new silk dupioni (along with Anna Maria Horner cotton fabric) to sew this super-simple, super-quick, super-cute scarf.  I was inspired by this photo that Kristyn posted but more on that later.  I'm off to taekwondo and will be back tomorrow with a very mini tutorial as this pattern is pretty self explanatory.  In the meantime...

Blurry photo of me wearing the scarf.  Doesn't it make my old Target t-shirt (covered with guinea pig bodily fluids - I had just finished cleaning the enclosure) look like something that can be worn out in public?

I also started a dupioni silk throw that I will construct in a manner similar to this super-cute one sewn by the talented Lucy.

I agree with kathryn...beautiful. You did a great job. and I would have never known all that about your shirt had you not spilled the beans...the scarf camouflaged it all. :)

Oh i missed this but i am glad to see all the silk put together. Do you prewash the silk before sewing or not? And what's your experience with sewing it?
